POLITICIANS have found a new platform to express themselves and take on their rivals. War of words among politicians has increased on social media and it is likely to intensify further in time to come. Whether it is a small development or a major one the politicians use social media like Twitter, Whatsapp and Facebook to express their happiness or vent ire to corner their rivals. As the Assembly elections are nearing with each passing day, politicians are using their social media account rigorously to air their sentiments.

Amongst all, Twitter is most popular among politicians.
Whether it is Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, BJP State President Rakesh Singh, BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya, State Congress President Kamal Nath or MP Jyotiraditya Scindia all of them post tweets daily on some or other issue. CM Chouhan uses Twitter to share achievements of his Government and also reacts on Congress attack against his Government. On the other hand, Congress leaders target the Government on various fronts.

Political parties have realised the power and importance of social media and they know well that how social media can help them create a favourable atmosphere in coming Assembly elections. As compared to last Assembly elections, social media will be used widely by all political parties in coming Assembly elections. Already, some political videos have created enough sensation in Madhya Pradesh politics and during the course of coming Assembly elections, use of social media by political parties is expected to rise. Apart from focusing on other strategies including ground-level strategies, BJP, Congress and other political parties are also focusing on social media and this time political parties want to use social media in a conducive way. In other words, social media has also occupied space in strategies of political parties. “In coming Assembly elections, social media is going to play a vital role along with ground-level preparations.

As far as social media is concerned then the BJP has 70,000social media workers who work to spread achievements of BJP-led State Government among masses. They will also take on propaganda of the Congress and will react on allegations,” said BJP’s State Incharge for IT and Social Media Shivraj Singh Dabi. He added that BJP has formed Whatsapp group at all 65,000 booths and at district and mandal level.
