Seven arrested for killing wild boar

Forest Department officials on Friday arrested seven villagers for killing a wild boar in Patan. The accused villagers were arrested from village Sipkona under Patan Block. Meat of the wild boar was also recovered from possession of the accused and in fact the dispute between them over distribution of the wild boar’s meat led to their arrest, informed reliable sources. The accused have been identified as Makhan Dhruw (63 years), Lakshmi Narayan Sahu (40), Dhaniram Nishad (32), Prahlad Nishad (32), Indra Kumar Sahu (32), Gajanand Nishad (52) and Sonu Ram Sahu (30 years), all residents of village Sipkona, Patan.

According to information, on Thursday, the accused hunted a wild boar and later took its flesh for distribution in a nearby farmhouse in the village. However they returned after the farmhouse owner registered his objection consequently which they went to a field for chopping the wild boar’s flesh. During meat distribution quarrel broke out between them and some locals subsequently alerted the police. 

Thereafter on receiving information the Patan Police alerted the Forest Department officials which conducted raid and arrested all the accused on Friday. Meanwhile on Friday evening the Forest Department officials produced the accused before the court of Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Girish Kumar Mandawi from where all the seven accused were sent to jail on judicial remand.
