C3 team arrests youth from Pune for defrauding cellphone buyers

The youth accepted payment on pretext of selling first copy phones of branded company

The accused was getting orders for first copy phones from across country

Cyber Complaint Cell (C3) of City Police apprehended a youth from Pune for duping more than 70 persons on pretext of selling first copy (duplicate phones) of iPhone and Samsung mobile companies.

According to police, accused Akshay Jalandar Jadhav (21), a resident of Ashtavinayak Colony, Ashok Nagar, Satpur, Nasik had floated an Instagram account - fist_copy_phones_. With around 5,000 followers on the account, Jadhav was advertising about sale of first copy of high-end mobile phones. After getting orders from interested buyers, Jadhav was asking them to transfer the money on his Paytm wallet.

A police officer informed that the accused was selling copy of iPhone for just 5,000 to 6,000 rupees. After receiving money from buyers in his Paytm wallet, Jadhav was not responding to repeated calls of buyers. He pocketed lakhs of rupees by using the modus operendi and brought Yamaha Rx 200 motorcycle worth Rs 1.50 lakh last year.

In Nagpur, the accused duped Aman Vilas Ingole (19), a resident of Mhalagi Nagar, Narsala Road of Rs 5,800 in December 2017. Hudkeshwar police had registered a case under Sections 420 of Indian Penal Code against the accused.

During investigation, the C3 officials traced location of the accused in Pune. A special team of C3 went to Pune and arrested the accused while he was on way to his village. Under the guidance of DCP Shweta Khedkar, the arrest was made by Police Inspectors (PIs) Bhanudas Pidurkar, Vijay Kare, APIs Vishal Mane, Prashant Bharate, Ranjan Sawant and staff including Ashwin Choudhary, Santosh Thakur, Mahendra Selukar and others.
