Business Bureau,

A DELEGATION of Nagpur Chamber of Commerce Ltd (NCCL) under the leadership of Vishnukumar Pacheriwala, President of the chamber, recently met Somesh Kumar, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Central Railway. The delegation congratulated Somesh Kumar for his appointment as DRM,
Nagpur and presented him a floral bouquet.
In the meeting, the NCCL delegates made Somesh Kumar aware of the hardship being faced by the business community because of various reasons.

Some of the major issues discussed during the meeting included making a luxurious lounge at Nagpur Railway Station. Another issue was related to parking charges levied from vehicles arriving in the railway station.
Parking charges are levied from travelers at platform no 8, (Home Platform) which is situated on Eastern side of the Station. At all the railway stations and airports there are no charges for ‘drop and go’. People just drop and go from the platform.

However, they have to pay parking charges which is not justified, NCCL members felt.
NCCL mentioned that the city being the centre of the nation, around 250 trains pass from Nagpur Railway Station and therefore it is one of the biggest railway junctions in the country. Considering the heavy flow of trains and passengers, there is need to enhance facilities at the railway station.

“For providing better facilities for the travelers, other railway stations like New Delhi, Agra and Vishakhapatnam among others have already build luxurious lounges and hence Nagpur should also follow the league,” the visiting delegation urged the railway officer.

There are many travelers who have to change the trains at Nagpur station to reach their destination. For these people, the lounge would be like a blessing in disguise, NCCL said.
Somesh Kumar gave a patient hearing to the grievances and assured them to the needful.
Also present during the meeting were Pradeep Jajoo,
Senior Vice-President, NCCL, Dr Anil Sharma, Secretary, Vasant Paliwal, Member of Board of Directors and DRUCC member and others.
