OERC Digital medium of education launched

School Education Minister Kedar Kashyap on Saturday launched Open Educational Resource Centre (OERC) which will facilitate students with digital medium of their syllabus.
An initiative of State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), the centre will be work in the line of NCERT and students of others states such as Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand etc. can also reap the benefit. Both teachers and students will get syllabus in digital form. Several study materials are being translated into Hindi and uploaded under the digital project.

The minister felicitated 20 teachers for their contribution to the digital programme which is currently can be reachable through internet. The place, which are deprived of Edusat and internet facilities, can receive digital study material offline, the minister said. SCERT Director Sudhir Kumar Agrawal said that the digital project has been experimented at Dhamtari in association with Tata Institute of Social Science, Mumbai. Class IX students of 30 schools in Dhamtari is being taught through computers. The subjects are Science, English and Mathematics.

Meanwhile, the minister said that is always satisfactory to know that students from Sukma and Dantewada are doing well under digital revolution. There is no dearth of talents in rural areas but they need proper guidance, the minister said. He asked the teachers to work at grassroots level for better results.
