On Saturday, Helpage India in collaboration with Social Justice and Disabled Welfare Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh, inaugurated Senior Citizens Helpline.

Inauguration of helpline 1800-233-1253 and Advocacy Campaign for Sensitisation of School and College Children towards Elderly Issues was done by Ashok Shah Principal Secretary Social Justice and Disabled Welfare Department. Along with him Gopal Krishan Tiwari Director Social Justice and Disabled Welfare Department . Sanskriti Gaur Inaugurated the HelpLine and Advocacy Campaign. During the inauguration Ashok Shah Principal Secretary, Social Justice and Disable welfare department said that it is very much important to seek help whenever it is needed and elderly people should come forward with their problems. Old age should not be taken as challenge and one should live with full dignity .

Further Shah said this Helpline would definitely help vulnerable situation of senior citizens in Bhopal and also through this campaign voice of Elderly would be strengthened and Intergenerational gap between Young and Senior Citizen can be reduced. During interaction elderly people opined that aging comes with many challenges. The loss of independence is one potential part of the process, as are diminished physical ability and age discrimination. The aging process, including biological, emotional, intellectual, social, and spiritual changes. Infact there are many older adults remain highly self-sufficient. Others require more care. Because the elderly typically no longer hold jobs, finances can be a challenge. And due to cultural misconceptions, older people can be targets of ridicule and stereotypes.

The elderly face many challenges in later life, but they do not have to enter old age without dignity. A power Point Presentation was also shared on how Helpline would work along with how can be helpline and Advocacy Campaign can become more effective with refractive indicators. During the Programme Social Justice Department Representatives along with Helpage team along with 50 Senior Citizens were present.
