According to Home Department, maximum number of accidents and deaths occurred at Raipur, Bilaspur, Janjgir-Champa, Durg, Korba and Raigarh. Most of the accidents’ victims are in the age-group of 18-35 years and accidents take place during 6 pm and 9 pm period

Chief Secretary Ajay Singh on Monday chaired a meeting of senior officers of various departments over the frequent road accidents in the State. He stressed upon controlling the rapid increase in road accidents and loss of human lives. The meeting decided to analyse the accidents’ data seriously and suggest methods to curb road accidents and loss of precious human lives. Experts will study the data and submit a report to the State Government. The roads on which most of the mishaps are occurring will be repaired and upgraded. Ambulance facility will be handed over to the Health Department and will be operated by the 108 Sanjeevni Express. Senior officials of the Health Department, Public Works Department and National Highways participated in the meeting.


The Home Department officials presented a detailed information regarding the accidents from 2017 -2018 June. Maximum number of accidents and deaths occurred at Raipur, Bilaspur, Janjgir-Champa, Durg, Korba and Raigarh. Most of the accidents’ victims are in the age-group of 18-35 years and accidents take place during 6 pm and 9 pm period. Police patrolling vehicles are on duty all the times.The concerned department always spreads awareness among the masses and violators of traffic rules are challaned at regular intervals. The Public Works Department officials said that 341 spots had been identities as accident-prone in the entire State. The authorities are making efforts to upgrade the roads. The Health Department officials revealed that ‘Trauma Centres’ are operating in all the hospitals across the State. Accident victims are treated at these places. National Highways officials said that ambulances operate to rescue the accident victims where Toll Taxes are collected.
