Steel girders laying work starts at Arch Bridge over Lower Lake

Traffic of old Bhopal and new Bhopal will be connected with completion of Arch Bridge with investment of Rs 40 crore. Ninety eight steel girders have been made in Ahmadabad. Under-construction work of ‘Rani Kamlapati’ Arch Bridge over Lower Lake is gaining momentum with launching of steel girders. It was initiated by city Mayor Alok Sharma on Monday who, performed ritual puja before launching of steel girder. On this occasion, city engineer OP Bharadwaj, Corporator Shafiqe and others were also present. First consignment of 15 steel girders which have been manufactured in Ahmadabad has been dumped at site. Traffic of old Bhopal and new Bhopal will be connected with completion of Arch Bridge with investment of Rs40 crore. Ninety eight steel girders have been made in Ahmadabad. In first phase, 15 girders have to be laid on the bridge. There are eight concrete girders. Length of bridge is 550 meter and it will be two-Lane Bridge.


BMC city engineer, OP Bharadwaj, said, “As many as 98 steel girders have been manufactured for launching over Arch Bridge. Fifteen of them have been brought at site. Launching has been started. Besides, eight girders have been made of concrete. Now, the completion will be carried on speedily. It is first phase of girder launching.”Mayor Alok Sharma, while launching girders, said, “Fifty percent construction work has been completed. Soon Arch Bridge will be completed and with the competition, traffic between old city and new Bhopal will be started. It will reduce the traffic pressure on main road. Entire working is under monitoring of BMC Commissioner Avinash Lavania.”
