Bus trying to save cow overturns, 16 hurt

A PASSENGER bus in Berasia overturned when the driver tried to save a cow near a school leaving several passengers injured on Tuesday morning. The bus was travelling from Bhopal to Lateri. According to Berasia police, the bus (MP-32-P-0110) run by Bhargava Travels turned turtle at around 8.30 am near Vidhya Sagar School, Narela, when the driver lost control while avoiding hitting a cow on the road. he lost control and the bus overturned leaving 16 passengers, including women, injured. In the mishap, cow was also dragged and was injured.

The driver abandoned the bus and fled the spot. Locals rushed to rescue passengers after hearing their screams. On being informed, police team reached the spot and made arrangements to provide relief to the injured. Out of injured people, one suffered fracture in his leg and was rushed to a private hospital in Bhopal, while other passengers, who sustained minor injuries, were admitted to nearby hospital from where they got discharged after primary treatment.

Those injured were Ratanlal, Hemraj, Dallu, Antar Singh, Pappu Ahirwar, Basanti, Sanda Bai, Sonu Yadav, Phool Bai, Sangeeta, Radha, Mohar Singh, Guddi Bai, Besan Bai, Radha Bai and Hemchand. A case under Sections 279 and 337 of the IPC has been registered against the bus driver and ill-fated vehicle has been seized by the police. The bus driver is yet to be arrested and search has been started.
