Union Health Minister J P Nadda sanctioned financial aid of Rs 14 lakh on special initiative of Dr Raman Singh and Labour Minister Bhaiyalal Rajwade for liver transplantation of four-year-old Ashwin

A four-year-old child from Rampur village of Koriya district got a new life after the successful liver transplantation. The mother donated her liver to save the child. However, the costly liver transplant surgery was possible on the special initiative of Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh and Labour Minister Bhaiyalal Rajwade following which a financial aid of Rs 14 lakh was sanctioned by Union Health Minister J P Nadda. Ashwin belongs to a poor labour family of Rampur village in Koriya district. This liver transplant surgery of Ashwin was performed on Tuesday in Institute of Liver and Biliary Science, New Delhi. Ashwin’s parents Sunita Sahu and Rajpal Sahu make living as daily wage labourers. They are overjoyed to see their child healthy and hearty. Union Health Ministry sanctioned Rs 14 lakh from Rashtriy Aarogya Nidhi to the hospital for Ashwin’s liver transplant in response to a letter written by the Chief Minister.

Ashwin’s parents were hardly making their both ends meet and their child has had liver disease since birth. When doctors told them about the need for liver transplant of their child, the couple was extremely stressed about the heavy medical expenses, as their small amount of saving had already got exhausted due to frequent trips to Delhi and Lucknow for Ashwin’s treatment.Meanwhile, when Chief Minister Dr Singh was on tour to Koriya district few months back, Ashwin’s parents met Dr Singh and requested for help. Chief Minister immediately sanctioned Rs one lakh 50 thousand from Sanjeevani Kosh for initial medical examination of the child.

In addition, Labour Minister Bhaiyalal Rajwade has taken the responsibility to look after the further process of child’s treatment. Rajwade arranged for the accommodation in New Delhi for the poor family for the duration of their child’s treatment there. Sunita and Rajpal Sahu have been staying in a rented house in Basant Kunj area of New Delhi for nearly two and a half months. After successful accomplishment of surgery on Tuesday, Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh and Labour Minister Rajwade expressed their happiness and prayed for child’s healthy and peaceful life. According to doctors, after the surgery there will be an estimated expenditure of nearly Rs 10 lakh on child’s medicine etc. Labour Minister Rajwade has assured of bearing this expenditures.
