‘National Lok Adalat aims to clear pending cases through mediation’

“MAIN objective of National Lok Adalat to be organised on July 14 is to clear pendency of various types of cases pending in different courts through mediation. We are more focused on settlement of listed pending revenue cases in District and High Courts. We are assessing actual reduction in pendency in court. As per wish and direction of National Legal Service Authority as well as State Legal Service Authority is working on clearing pendency through mediation process,” said Member Secretary Vijay Chandra while addressing a press conference at Madhya Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (MPSLSA) conference hall on Wednesday.


MPSLSA Member Secretary Chandra added that right from Tehsil Courts to High Courts, National Lok Adalat will be organised. National Lok Adalat will be organised as per directions issued by NLSA, New Delhi, under guidance and direction of MPHC Chief Justice and Chief Patron of MPSLSA Justice Hemant Gupta and MPHC Administrative Judge and Executive Chairman, MLSLSA, Justice S K Seth. In National Lok Adalat on July 14, cases including criminal, cheque bounce cases under Section 138, back recovery related cases, accidental, labour dispute, electricity, property and water tax recovery, marriage related cases, cases related to land acquisition, revenue cases listed in District and High Court, civil cases will be heard. Besides this, cases related to pre-litigation will also be tabled for settlement in National Lok Adalat. Chandra added that various benefits have been announced by different Government departments like waivers of surcharge, rate of interest on bank loans etc on settlement of cases through National Lok Adalat. Litigants who are interested in settling their cases pending in courts can submit their mutual consent and complete necessary formalities in their respective courts to take their cases to National Lok Adalat prior to July 14. Deputy Secretary Dheeraj Kumar Singh, Arvind Shrivastava, Senior Legal Assistance Officer, S P Pandey, Poonam Tiwari, Rajesh Kumar Saxena, Manish Kaushik and other officials were present.
