3 involved in illegal trade of firearms held

In a major breakthrough, STF Jabalpur team succeeded in apprehending three more accused involved in illegal trade of firearms and seized 8 weapons from them. The accused have been identified as Omprakash Gupta alias Pappu VIP, a resident of Chattarpur, Mohammed Rasool, son of Mohammed Rafiq, of Chattarpur, Devi Singh Yadav, a resident of Bhangarh in Sagar district and Bhailal Lodhi, a resident of Gotegaon.Superintendent of Police, STF, Kamlesh Kharpuse disclosed this while addressing a press conference, on Wednesday.


SP, Kamlesh Kharpuse informed that, on July 3, STF team nabbed an accused named Omprakash Gupta alias Pappu near Karond square and seized 3 x 315-bore country-made revolvers and 1, 0.32 bore country-made revolver and seized a country-made revolver and a live cartridge from Mohammed Rasool.STF obtained five days police remand of accused for further investigation into the case. During the remand, the accused disclosed names of Devi Singh Yadav of Sagar and Bhailal Lodhi of Gotegaon who purchased one – one 12-bore factory made rifles. On their identification, police team succeeded in apprehending the buyers of rifles and seized two factory made rifles from them. The accused were apprehended with active working of STF team comprised of Inspector Hariom Dixit, ASI Brijendra Nigam, ASI Vishal Singh and ASI, Raghuveer Singh.
