2 killed, 7 injured after 2 autos collide head-on

A 50-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man lost their lives after two auto-rickshaws they were travelling in collided head-on in Chola Mandir area on Saturday morning. As many as seven persons also sustained injuries in the road mishap, which took place near FCI godown.According to Chola Mandir police, the accident took place in Shiva Nagar area at around 09:30 am when the two auto-rickshaws coming from opposite directions rammed into each other. The exact cause of the collision could not be ascertained as the drivers in the vehicles are also undergoing treatment. One of the auto-rickshaws (MP-04-BA-2269) was coming from Bhanpur, while the other was coming from bus stand and as they reached near FCI godown, the drivers failed to cross and the collision took place. Later, the locals rushed to their help and also informed police. The injured people were taken out of the auto by police and onlookers after which they were taken to a nearby hospital, where Sher Singh (33) and the unidentified woman aged around 50-years, were declared brought dead on arrival, while their co-passengers, including the drivers of the autos, were undergoing treatment. The deceased woman and man were travelling in the same auto, while the passengers in the other auto sustained serious wounds. Police have filed a case under Section 304-A of the IPC and the exact cause of accident will be probed later, said investigation officer ASI Amarjeet Singh.
