Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Thavarchandra Gehlot said that Indian culture teaches values of serving the poor and oppressed. Each one should co-operate in welfare of physically challenged people, then only they can move with others. He expressed these views in a function for distribution of free assistance equipment to ‘Divyangs’ at Satna.On the occasion, assistance equipment worth Rs 1,30,00,000 was distributed among physically challenged people. On the occasion, the Union Minister laid foundation of new building of district panchayat to be built with cost of Rs 278 lakh.

Speaking further, the Union Minister said that India has created a special place in world in terms of development and help for ‘Divang’ . The Act enforced for welfare of physically challenged person is the best in world which is more than what the United Nations expected.He further informed that in jobs of Government of India, four per cent reservation has been given to handicapped. The government has started giving scholarship to handicapped since 2014-15. Physically challenged persons are not only given assistance equipment but resources are arranged for their studies also. They are imparted skill training to involve them in self employment. The Union Minister informed that decision has been taken for making artificial limbs and wheel chairs. Similar camps would be organised in each district. He said that for distribution of similar items, a special camp would also be organised for senior citizens. UDID cards would be prepared for all ‘Divyangs’ all over country.

Local Member of Parliament Ganesh Singh said that serving the needy is a noble deed and serving the handicapped is noblest. Under leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, needs of handicapped are being fulfilled. This camp has been held with aim to provide assistance equipments to handicapped from cities and towns. .He informed that in this camps, 538 handicapped persons are being given assistance equipments worth Rs 1,30,00,000. All over country so far, 3,13,00,000 ‘Divyangs’ have been benefited, He thanked district administration for co-operating in this camp held at district headquarters. Collector Mukesh Kumar Shukla said that those ‘Divyangs’ who were registered earlier, were given benefits in these camps. Check up of those left out would be done and then their registration would be made. Similar camps would be held at block headquarters also.MLA Shankarlal Tiwari and District Panchayat President Umesh Pratap Singh also addressed the gathering. Mayor Mamta Pandey and other public representatives were present on the occasion.
