CM lays e-foundation of Bina River Joint Irrigation Project

Work in progress for irrigation projects costing Rs 38,598 crore in Bundelkhand

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that we will perform things, whatever have not done ever till now. We will make Madhya Pradesh the ‘Best State in the World’ in the field of agriculture and irrigation. Chouhan further mentioned that irrigation projects costing Rs 38,598 crore are underway in Bundelkhand region at present. Irrigation facility on 25 lakh acre land of five districts of Bundelkhand region will be provided after completion of these projects. CM Chouhan was addressing the gathering at bhoomipujan programme of Bina River Joint Irrigation Project costing about Rs 4,000 crore at Khurai in Sagar district on Monday. Chouhan laid online e-foundation of the project on this occasion. Irrigation facility will be provided by micro irrigation system on 90,000 hectare area of Khurai, Bina and Surkhi Vidhan Sabha constituencies after completion of the project. Under the project, about 21MW hydro electricity will also be produced.


Irrigation Projects to be based on ‘Per Drop More Crop’ method: CM Chouhan has stated that new projects are being approved in Madhya Pradesh on the principle of ‘Per Drop-More Crop’ method. Micro irrigation system is being adopted and water is being supplied at high pressure by laying underground pipelines under the canal system in these projects. He further mentioned that irrigation facility was available on just 7.50 lakh hectare area 10 years ago, which has grown up to 40 lakh hectare in the year 2017-18. Eighty lakh hectare agriculture land of the state will have irrigation facility in the next 5 years. Chouhan said that construction work of Banda, Bansujara and Pawai Irrigation Projects of Bundelkhand region is in progress. Discussions are going on with Uttar Pradesh on Ken-Betwa Link Project. Efforts are being made to give every single drop of Madhya Pradesh’s entitlement by this project to Bundelkhand. He stated that foundation of other proposed irrigation projects in the area will be laid shortly.

Chouhan mentioned that agency for Bina River Joint Irrigation Project has been decided. Moreover, the contractor has already arrived and work of this project will be started speedily soon now. Policy, intention and leadership paved way for development: Chief Minister Chouhan said that correct policy, intention and leadership pave way for development. Our government is working to bring smile of development in villages, farms beside on the faces of poor, farmers and all the citizens of the state. The government has opened all the doors for the poor. We have made arrangements of roti, kapda, makaan, education and from medicines to employment for the poor of the state under the Mukhya Mantri Jan-Kalyan (Sambal) Yojana. We have enacted law to make every poor person the land owner. Residential pattas will be allotted to them and pucca houses will be constructed. Our government will give pucca houses to 40 lakh poor in the next 4 years under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and Mukhya Mantri Antodaya Awas Yojana. fee for poor children’s education will be paid by the Government. Medical expenses will also be borne by the government. An amount of Rs 16,000 will be given to pregnant woman labourer.

Electricity at the flat rate of Rs 200 will be provided under the Saral Bijlee Bill Yojana. A sum of Rs 2 lakh on natural death, Rs 4 lakh on accidental death will be given. An amount of Rs 5,000 in cash will be given to perform last rites. Chouhan asserted that the Government is always ready for the welfare of poor and farmers. Minister for Home Bhupendra Singh has said that water will be supplied to farms through pipeline under this project and irrigation will be carried out by drip irrigation system. He further mentioned that water will be supplied to the entire area within 2-3 years. Singh stated that an amount of Rs 242 crore in the form of crop insurance and Rs 158 crore as drought relief have distributed among the farmers of Sagar district. Along with this, an amount of Rs 300 crore on support price has been deposited in the bank accounts of the farmers of the district. Minister for Panchayat and Rural Development Gopal Bhargava, MP Laxminarayan Yadav, MLAs Eng Pradeep Lariya, Mahesh Rai and Virsingh Pawar, Mayor of Sagar Abhay Dare, Local Public Representatives and villagers in large number were present in the programme.
