Dipen Agrawal, President of Chamber of Associations of Maharashtra Industry and Trade (CAMIT) on Monday called upon Devendra Fadnavis Chief Minister of Maharashtra and thanked him for granting the much needed relaxation to retailers on plastic ban imposed by State by virtue of getting the notification issued as promised to CAMIT recently. At the same time, Agrawal drew the attention of Fadnavis on disparity and discrimination on relaxation declared in the amended notification which mentions relaxation applicable only for groceries retailers. The rest of the goods and commodities, perishable and non-perishable, are not being covered in writing in the notification which is creating huge confusion and uncertainty amongst trade, industry and citizens of State. Also the notification is not clear on plastic containers which are largely used by hoteliers for packing and parcel of hotel foods. The fear of Inspector Raj is among trade, industry and common man.

Devendra Fadnavis patiently heard all issues of disparity in the amended notification and assured to look into the same soon and due rectification would be made in the amended notification on plastic ban. The amended notification would be issued in two to three days, relaxing plastic ban for packaging plastics with above 50 micron and plastic containers with specific gauge, as decided by the Empowered Committee.
CAMIT extended it’s gratitude to Chief Minister and Environment Minister for their immediate support and co-operation and understanding the plight of common man and responding to relax the hardship being faced by them.
