“More than 93 lakhs trucks which have a contribution of 4.5 percent in the GDP are deprived of fulfilling their demands and facing huge loss of around Rs 1.47 lakh crores due to irrelevant policy of the Government. Even after giving several representations truck owners have failed in pressing their demand before the Central Government. Now the truck owners have decided to stage indefinite nationwide strike from July 20, 2018 for strongly pressing their demands before the Government”, informed by Malkeet Singh Bal, Chairman of All India Motor Transport Congress while addressing a press conference, on Monday.

Malkeet Singh added that through the nationwide indefinite strike truck owners will press their six points demands include checking increasing price of diesel and its quarterly price fixation, making the country toll free, transparency in third party insurance, rebate in GST and payment to agents through comprehensive policy for ending additional commission, concluding TDS on transport business by making necessary amendments in section 44 AE of Income Tax Act, national permit to busses and tourism vehicles and withdrawing direct port delivery (DPD) scheme to avoid port congestion in the country.

The nationwide indefinite strike will be staged under the joint banner of All India Motor Transport Congress, Truck Owners Association, Jabalpur, Jabalpur Goods Transport Technical Association and Jabalpur Parchun Transport Association. During the press conference, Truck Owner’s Association Jabalpur, President Parvinder Singh Mangat, Paramvakkr Singh, Hari Singh Thakur, Ajit Tiwari, Baljeet Singh Mangat and a large number of members were present.
