Mega plantation drive’s promotion on via social media, display boards, expo

Real time info about 13 cr tree plantation across State brought under public domain

Forest Department has developed integrated forest information system to make available real time position about the ongoing ambitious 13 crore tree plantation in Maharashtra through website, facebook, twitter, instagram and greentube. It has also now introduced drone photography of plantations at different places to bring information in public domain.


Information Technology Depart-ment of the department has made certain modifications to bring transperancy about plantation activities, following desire expressed by Sudhir Mungantiwar, Forest Minister, who has taken initiative in the massive plantation of 50 crore seedlings till next year. Every computer and mobile with net can provide information related to the afforestation programme.


Anybody interested in getting details about the plantations can get them through the department’s website: http:/www.mahaforest.nic.in by clicking 50 crore plantation icon and then clicking 13 crore. This was stated by Praveen Srivastava, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (IT, Policy), while addressing a press conference in the command room of the Department, Van Bhavan, Civil Lines, here on Monday. He said, the Government has taken up an ambitious 13 crore tree plantation programme with Forest Department, Forest Development Corporation of Maharashtra, Social Forestry, other departments, local self government bodies, industry, semi-government organisations, schools, colleges and citizens. It is being executed from July 1to 31 all over Maharashtra to make it green, he added.
A private industry making plantation should register with Green Army to get information and then the system would include its plantation activities. If a common man wants to download pictures on ‘My Plan’ link and that would be uploaded on the Department’s system. This will be included after July 31after collecting data and filtering pictures.
The Department has introduced drone photography from pre-plantation activities. The drone will take pictures of all the four corners of a field in between 1-5 hectares and if it is more then it will cover corners and central portion of the plantation site, Srivastava added.
To promote the plantation drive through documentary and photo exhibition the department has launched a website: Mahaforest Greentube on YouTube on June 27. Details about this endeavour work are available on official website www.mahaforest.nic.in.
The citizens can copy and share details aboutg plantation drive with others using their emails. Srivastava said that in cities across Maharashtra, the promotion is on through digital display boards, LED screens and exhibitions. To a question, he replied that now a movement has begun and expressed his confidence that the authorities concerned would complete the set target for plantation.

‘Vruksh Dindi’ to conclude today
The concluding function of ‘Vruksh Dindi’ taken out at the initiative by Prof Anil Sole, President of Green Earth Organisation, Nagpur, to mark afforestation drive will be held on July 3 at Vasantrao Deshpande Hall, Civil Lines, at 6 pm. Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister; Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Surface Transport; Sudhir Mungantiwar, Forest Minister; Chandrashekhar Bawankule, In-charge Minister for Nagpur District; Ambarish Raje Atram, Minister of State for Forest; Nanda Jichkar, Mayor; MPs, Legislators and other dignitaries will be the guests of honour.

 

Over 1 crore seedlings planted in 2 days
Over one crore seedlings have been planted in two days during ambitious 13 crore tree plantation programme across Maharashtra. Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister, launched the drive in Thane district on July 1 in the presence of Sudhir Mungantiwar, Forest Minister. On the first day, the dash board showed a figure of planting 42 lakh seedlings in the State. In Nagpur, Chandrashekhar Bawankule, In-charge Minister, inaugurated the afforestation programme on Sunday at Gorewada Nursery. The plantation drive will be taken up till July 31. The target for Forest Department, FDCM and Social Forestry is seven crore seedlings while it is six crore for other agencies.
