MUMBAI,

Action should not be taken against every loan defaulter, Gadkari said, adding genuine decisions should be supported for entrepreneurship to flourish

UNION MINISTER Nitin Gadkari on Monday warned that taking action against every defaulting entrepreneur will chill economic activity and the country will be left with no people willing to take business risks.

There is a need to distinguish between bona fide and mala fide intentions which would have made an entrepreneur to default, the minister said, adding that there are extraneous factors like business cycles or global situations which need to be looked into. Action should not be taken against every loan defaulter, he said, adding genuine decisions should be supported for entrepreneurship to flourish. “If we can’t protect and encourage such people, we can’t get people to take initiatives. If entrepreneurship is dead, where would capital investments come from? It will hurt the economy,” Gadkari said at an event organised by the Buldhana Urban Cooperative Bank.

Don’t support Govt, but back pro-people decisions: Gadkari to media: MEDIA should not support those who oppose policies or decisions which are in the interest of the common man, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said.
Speaking at the executive meeting of the Federation of PTI Employees’ Unions here on Monday night, he advocated a “positive and supportive role” for “whatever is in the national interest”.

The BJP leader said media should focus more on technology, science and innovation as the young generation was keen on getting updates about these sectors rather that political coverage and “what Rahul Gandhi says or Nitin Gadkari says”.
“Don’t support any individual, any party, don’t support any Government. But do not support elements which are opposed to the things which are in the interest of the common man,” he said.

The Minister of Road Transport and Highways listed some projects which could not progress speedily for various reasons, including people approaching the courts to oppose them, and difficulties in removing encroachments on land needed for the projects.

Gadkari rules out stopping highway toll collection: UNION Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has ruled out any exemption from toll collection at the national highways, saying people should pay if they want good services.

The Minister said toll collection can “never go” if funds are to be raised for constructing roads under the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model.

‘Opposition uniting against BJP because it is a strong party’

MUMBAI,

THE Opposition is uniting against the BJP because it is strong, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has said, predicting a win for his party in the Lok Sabha elections next year.

The implementation of the proposal to hold parliamentary and Assembly polls simultaneously would need the cooperation of all parties, the minister said . The BJP would make efforts to convince the Shiv Sena to contest the Lok Sabha polls in alliance with his party, Gadkari added. The Shiv Sena, a constituent of the ruling NDA, has passed a resolution to go solo in the next general and Maharashtra Assembly elections, both to be held next year.

“People will unite against a strong person. They are uniting against us (the BJP) because we are strong,” Gadkari said
