Staff Reporter,

Adopting an aggressive stance on the eve of Monsoon Session of State Legislature, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis signalled combat readiness of the Government to take on combined might of the Opposition. Tearing into allegations of corruption that Opposition is levelling into land sale by PAPs in CIDCO area, Fadnavis said he is ready for any inquiry into the deal. At the same time sending home the message, he dared Opposition to raise the matter during the session and he would reveal as to under whose patronage the builder ‘Bhatija’ has flourished.

Addressing the customary press conference on the eve of Monsoon Session of State Legislature at his official residence Ramgiri, Fadnavis flanked by all the senior cabinet ministers, dubbed the CIDCO land issue as non starter. He further said that in the past, 200 such dealings had taken place and wondered why such controversy was being generated now while questioning the motive of opposition. The monsoon session is meant to address the issues of farmers as Kharif season and measures to provide relief to common man of State, he stated. He accused Opposition of spreading rumours and half-truths to vilify ruling dispensation and said they will counter the same with facts, saying it is a political battle that will be fought politically.

Countering the Opposition allegations, Chief Minister said during their four year rule they have provided support to farmers in a big way and doled out statistics to prove the point. Farm loan disbursement from year 2014 onwards was Rs. 40,000 crores, Rs. 46,000 crores, Rs. 25,000 crores whereas under Congress-NCP 15-years regime total farm loan advanced was Rs. 17 to 18,000 crores. Similarly, BJP led Government purchased 36 lakh tonnes of tur daal worth Rs. 1835 crores in year 2017-18 from 2,65,864 farmers at MSP of Rs. 5450, while Gram of Rs. 857 crores totalling 1.94 lakh Metric Tonnes at MSP of Rs. 4,400 was purchased. Since our support to farmers was much more than previous Government the expectations are definitely more and we will not fall short in meeting those, Fadnavis said emphatically.

The fresh crop loan disbursement is about 25 per cent at present and is likely to take off by next month as is the trend in State. The sowing of cotton, maize, pulses, is going on well Chief Minister stated and said downpour at present is more than average. State has also disbursed Rs 2,100 crores as compensation to cotton growers whose crop was affected due to pink bollworm infestation.

Referring to lynching of five persons in Dhule, Chief Minister termed the incident as unfortunate and announced that accused persons would be tried in Fast Track court. Police Department has been issued instructions and measures are being taken to create awareness among masses.

To a question, Fadnavis said that scope of inquiry into irrigation scam is quite vast and hence the progress is
slow. Citing example, he said one of the chargesheets ran into 10,000 pages that indicates the vast amount of documentation that is needed to be prepared while justifying the slow progress.

The State Government will table a new policy on milk procurement and incentive to be given for converting milk into milk powder. We are studying policies adopted by other State Government and new policy will address the current problems being faced by farmers and milk dairies, Chief Minister said.
