Hardcore Naxalite gunned down

A hardcore Naxalite was gunned down in an encounter with security forces in forested patches of insurgency-hit Sukma district in Chhattisgarh on Monday evening. The killed Maoist identified as Rawa Bhime. He was active as a member of Kumadtong Jan Militia group of outlaws. 
“The gun battle took place last evening in the forest of Darel-Markaguda village under Chintalnar police limits when a team of Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) was out for search operation. While the patrolling team of 201st battalion of CoBRA was venturing in Darel-Markaguda village forest, some armed Maoist opened indiscriminate fire on the security forces which turned into gun battle,” said Sukma Superintendent of Police Abhishek Meena.


Pollice sources, in the meantime, confirmed that the exchange of fire lasted for hours. Finding the security personnel zeroing-in on them, the ultras fled into the dense forest. During post encounter search, the team recovered body of an ultra and also recovered one muzzle gun, medicines and other naxal-related items from the spot.Meanwhile, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Special Intelligence Branch) Sundarraj P informed that the troops that gunned down the ultra was yet to reach the base camp. ‘More details about the gun battle would come to fore once the troops brief us upon their arrival in the camp,’ the DIG added.
