Special Correspondent,

Opposition parties have sharpened attack against ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiv Sena led Maharashtra Government charging it with “miserable failure in loan waiver scheme, curbing farmers’ suicides, Nanar Project, flawed settlement of crop insurance and land frauds” during the Monsoon session of State Legislature commencing from July 4.

Firing a fresh salvo against the State Government, Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, Leader of Opposition in Assembly and Dhananjay Munde, Leader of Opposition in Council in a joint press conference on the eve of session slammed the State Government for inept handling of all issues and derailing Maharashtra. Expressing dissatisfaction over the performance of Devendra Fadnavis Government, the opposition parties boycotted the customary tea party organised by Chief Minister.

Lashing out at ruling dispensation, Vikhe Patil said, citizens are fed-up with “mis-rule of the present government” and claimed that people have already decided the ‘expiry date’ of the government on October 2, 2019. Government does not have any commitment and planning for the welfare of the state, he claimed while predicting a bleak future for present ruling parties. He declared to file a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) over land scam in the High Court and declared that Opposition will raise CIDCO land issue in a big way in both the houses.

About ambitious loan waiver scheme launched by State Government, both the leaders lambasted the Government for faulty implementation of loan waiver scheme dubbing government statistics as completely misleading.

As against the promised loan waiver of Rs 34,000 crore to 79 lakh farmers in the state, only 34 lakh farmers have actually benefited from the scheme and only Rs 14,000 crore have been disbursed by the government. However, despite such a claim, farmers are not getting crop loan for Kharip season, they claimed. Opposition demanded complete loan waiver to all the farmers. They expressed anguish over the audacity of bank officer for “making an indecent proposal” to a lady to approve loan and demanded stern action against such demons.

Taking pot-shots at Shiv Sena for making empty noises but effectively saving Government, Vikhe Patil compared Shiv Sena to “Modern Savitri” and compared relationship between BJP and Sena to that of a cantankerous husband and wife. He demanded complete loan waiver to all the farmers.

Dhananjay Munde while levelling allegation against Fadnavis Government stated that Chief Minister is insensitive over plight of farmers in the state. The government has failed to pay compensation of Rs 37,500 per hectare to the pink boll worm affected farmers. He once again reiterated that crime rate of Nagpur has increased and dubbed it as Crime Capital. Targeting Shiv Sena over Nanar Project, he said, party has cheated the people of Konkan region.

Munde said, the government has made mockery of plastic ban. Only common citizens are being harassed and this will increase corruption in the state. Vijay Wadettiwar, Sharad Ranpise, Jogendra Kawade, Prakash Gajbhiye, and Atul Londhe were present.

Rs 5 lakh given to Khobragade family
Congress Legislative Party (CLP) has handed over Rs 5 lakh to the family of Late Dadaji Khobragade, inventor of HMT rice variety. Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil and Dhananjay Munde handed over the amount to the family members - Mitrajeet and Indira. Dadaji Khobragade passed away in June.

Vijay Wadettiwar said that Congress President Rahul Gandhi had visited house of Khobragade to pay tributes.
Why CM called Monsoon Session in Nagpur While supporting the decision of State Government to organise Monsoon Session of Legislature in Nagpur, Vikhe Patil and Munde wondered the motive behind organising it in Nagpur when people of Vidarbha are not satisfied with the working of the government. The people will experience slew of announcements by the government in this session and predicted that they will be honoured only in breach.

Cartoons against Government
Adopting a novel method to highlight failure of the BJP-Sena government, the Congress camp displayed cartoons over functioning of government and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The cartoons put in place by Abhijeet Sapkal and his team attracted lot of eyeballs.
