Speaker, Chairman review Monsoon Session preparations

Ramraje Naik Nimbalkar, Chairman of Legislative Council, and Haribhau Bagde, Speaker of Legislative Assembly, took stock of preparations for Monsoon Session of State Legislature commencing in the city from Wednesday. They issued directions to senior officers to ensure that the entire machinery was alert considering that the session was being held during Monsoon season.

Nimbalkar and Bagde reviewed security, accomodation, and conveyance arrangements for the session. They asked the senior officers to make presentations about various measures taken to ensure smooth conduct of Monsoon Session.

Dr Anant Kalse, Principal Secretary of Legislature Secretariat, informed Bagde and Nimbalkar that total 50 CCTV cameras were installed in Vidhan Bhavan premises. Besides, a scanner and digital camera were placed at the entrance. The Speaker and the Chairman directed the officials to ensure that clean drinkinng water was available at Vidhan Bhavan, MLA Hostel, Ravi Bhavan, etc. Medical care facilities with ambulance should be available considering that the session is being held during Monsoon season.

The disaster management agencies should be ready to deal with short circuits, fire, uprooting of trees etc.
Anoop Kumar, Divisional Commissioner; Uttamsingh Chavan, Secretary of Legislature Secretariat; Vilas Athawale, Deputy Secretary; Dr K Venkatesham, Commissioner of Police; Ashwin Mudgal, District Collector; Virendra Singh, Municipal Commissioner; Sanjay Yadav, Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad; Ravindra Jagdale, Deputy Secretary, and heads of various departments attended the meeting.

Anoop Kumar said that the administration had made available Ola cabs under corporate plan for Monsoon Session. This has reduced the issues concerning parking space for vehicles, and also reduced number of vehicles requisitioned for the session. This year, only 124 vehicles have been requisitioned, he said.

Public Works Department has made available canopies and done water-proofing at vital installations. Besides, facilities of Internet connectivity, telecommunication, generators to ensure uninterrupted power supply were made available at Ravi Bhavan, Nag Bhavan etc. Dr K Venkatesham informed the dignitaries that security and parking arrangements were made considering minute details. Virendra Singh told them that mobile toilets were arranged at vital installations. Water availability, cleanliness, suction pumps to clear waterlogging were also taken care of. Dr Sanjay Jaiswal, Deputy Director (Health Services) said that medical facilities were available not only at vital installations but also at morcha points.
