Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) Water Resources Department woke up to the task and began fixing the broken valve of the Bhatagaon on Monday. As the push comes to shove, RMC Water Works began relentless repairing work at the 1600 mm pipeline valve at Bhatagaon. Water Resources Department officer in-charge AK Malwe was supervising the repairing works. Additional Commissioner and officer in-charge of Water Resources Department Saumya Chaurasiya informed that the fixing work is expected to complete by Wednesday. In the meantime, all four pumps were back to normal functioning on Tuesday, but it wasn’t confirmed by the officials. Mayor Pramod Dubey blamed releasing of just 44 cusec water by the Irrigation Department as the reason behind water shortage whereas RMC had already demanded 50 cusec additional to the 200 cusec water on June 21, 2018 from Irrigation Department. It was told that 250 cusec water had reached the anicut.

Different officials of Irrigation Department gave different versions on the issue. Irrigation Department’s irresponsibility made the Raipur city suffer. It crossed all limits when the Express Way contractor, who is running a crusher plant, also began illegally drawing the drinking water, which further worsened the situation. He will ensure stern action against the officers accountable.
