Woman drug-peddler held, cops seize 659 gramme Brown Sugar

A TEAM of Anti-Narcotics Cell of Crime Branch on Monday nabbed a woman drug peddler and seized 659 gramme Brown Sugar (raw Heroin) valued at Rs 26.86 lakh in the International market.


The accused, Chitra Manoj Rahangdale (30) is a resident of Shanti Nagar, behind Itwari Railway Station.
Head Constable Tulsidas Shukla (Buckle No 1415), attached to Anti-Narcotics Cell, received inputs from one of his informers that Chitra carrying packets of brown sugar would coming near Railway Quarter No 189 in Motibagh.


Shukla alerted his superiors who laid a trap at the said spot.
When Chitra came on a Honda Aviator moped (MH-31/VS- 3557), the police team nabbed her. Cops found a packet containing brown sugar in the utility box of the vehicle. The team seized the contraband valued at Rs 26.86 lakh, Rs 10,000 cash, 61 gramme white powder, a cellphone worth Rs 11,000 and her vehicle.


Cops arrested Chitra and registered an offence under Section 21(c) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act against her at Pachpaoli Police Station.
Police obtained remand for Chitra’s custodial interrogation to find out all those involved in drug trafficking.


The arrest was made by Senior PI Rajendra Nikam, API Chandan, PSI Swapnil Wagh, ASI Arjun Singh, HCs Tulsidas Shukla, Datta Bagul, Satish Patil, WPC Rubina Shaikh, and driver Naresh Shingne under the supervision of Commissioner of Police Dr K Venkatesham, Joint CP Shivaji Bodkhe, DCP (Detection) Sambhaji Kadam, and ACP (Crime) Sanjiv Kamble.
