Drug peddler held with ganja worth Rs 1L

Cracking the whip against miscreants behind sale and supply of sedative substance, Thursday proved productive for Crime Branch, acting on the information promptly and apprehending one peddler along with ganja worth Rs 1 lakh. However, one associate of the peddler nabbed managed to flee from the spot. The peddler was nabbed by the Crime Branch and cops from Gorakhpur police near Howbagh station behind Sai temple street. Incidentally, the peddler nabbed by police is the elder brother, while his younger one managed to escape from the spot.


The success for police was revealed to media by Additional SP, Crime Sandeep Mishra on Thursday afternoon. Giving details of the success, he informed that, in view of directives issued by Superintendent of Police, Jabalpur, Amit Singh, who had instructed to tighten noose around miscreants involved in supply of sedatives, informers have been pressed into service. On Thursday, one informer of Crime Branch informed about two miscreants on motor bike without any registration number were standing near Howbagh station area in possession of plastic bag containing some kind of sedative substance.


Acting on the information, a joint team of Crime Branch and Gorakhpur police was constituted who reached the said location. Having seen the approaching police, the two miscreants attempted to move out from the location. Of the two, one managed to flee from the spot, while one identified as Amar Ramcharan Chaudhary(25), resident of Sindhi Camp, Badi Madartekri at present residing at Kanchanpur Pahadi was summarily apprehended by the police team.During search carried out of the plastic bag, cops who searched the bag found the sedative inside and when examined, ganja was confirmed. Brought to police station, the peddler, in course of interrogation, revealed that, he, along with his associate, who managed to flee from the spot, happened to be younger brother named as Golu alias Anand Chaudhary. They were waiting for potential addicts to dispose of the sedative. The ganja weighed 10 kilogram worth around Rs 1 lakh in the international market.


A case under Section 8,20 of NDPS Act has been framed at Gorakhpur police station against the accused, who has been put behind police net. He is being subjected to interrogation to reveal the source of procurement of ganja seized by the police team. Cops in course of action have also seized the motorbike without any registration number speculated to have been stolen along with one mobile set. A massive search to apprehend the absconding co-accused has been started as cops are hopeful of early arrest.
The police team comprised SHO Gorakhpur SI Ranjit Sarathey, SI Madan Singh Marawi, and from Crime Branch were Firoz, K K Pandey, Rajendra Biloha, Satish, Shailendra Kaurab and others. SP Jabalpur, happy with the success, has announced that the police team would be awarded with cash prize.
