FDP on Internet of Things begins at IIIT-NR

A 5-day long Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Internet of Things (IoT) started on July 4 at IIIT-NR in association with Electronics and ICT Academy of IIITDM Jabalpur. The programme is intended to foster the spirit of latest developments in IoT and related challenges. 50 participants from all over Chhattisgarh will be introduced to fundamentals of IoT. They will learn how to use embodied systems, sensors, motors and other tools to create individual IoT systems.

In the inaugural session of the programme, Director and VC, Dr Pradeep K Sinha, IIIT-NR emphasized on bringing about societal changes by use of IoT systems and making India a coveted place for leadership in ICT. He explained how the B Tech. Curriculum embodies IoT in its courses. Chief Guest of the programme, Professor Sudip Mishra of IIT Kharagpur emphasized the opportunities for industrial IoT at various sphere of Naya Raipur smart city since the State Govt. also encourages IoT initiatives. He called upon for a vision for the country involving IoT applications at device and protocol levels. Prof Aparajita Ojha of IIIT DM in her address said that 16000 people are to be trained in 5 years in the domain of IoT.

Dr Pravin N Kondekar appreciated the role of the faculty for spreading the IoT awareness and use for smart living. Dean (Academic) Prof Mahapatra welcomed the participants and resource persons from the industries and Institutes. The programme is being coordinated by Dr. Venkanna U, Dr Debanjan Das and Dr Vivek Tiwari. The programme is sponsored by Ministry of Electronics & IT.
