Heavy rains inundate many parts of city

The weatherman informed that similar condition will persists and the city would receive more rains in next 48 hours

After a long break, heavy showers lashed the city for half-an-hour on Friday evening. The rains inundated many areas of the city, especially low-lying areas where filthy water reportedly gushed into dwellings.Heavy showers put employees of Jabalpur Municipal Corporation (JMC) on toes as drains, nullahs overflowed and water-logged in low-lying areas. The control room of JMC also received complaints of
water-logging from many parts of the city.It may be noted that most of the drains and nullahs in the city are still not cleaned properly. Plastic carry bags and garbage clogged in the nullahs created water-logging. Following heavy rains the chocked drains, nullahs overflow and inundated many areas.

Similarly, the nullah in Civic Centre area which is clogged with garbage and silt crated heavy waterlogging. All roads connecting the area got waterlogged and created inconvenience to shopkeepers and denizens.For the last few days’ citizens were facing hot and humid weather. On Friday evening, thick black clouds hovered over the city and ran heavily for nearly half an hour and inundated several areas.
As per the Meteorological department the city has received 30 mm rainfall which added to the total figure of the season’s rainfall to 135 mm. The maximum temperature on Friday was recorded at 35.1 degree Celsius while minimum was 24.4 degree Celsius. The relative humidity on Friday morning was recorded to 80 per cent while in evening it was 65 percent.

During last year the maximum temperature onthe same day was 32.8 degree Celsius while minimum was 25.6 degree Celsius. The total rainfall was 165.9 mm. The weatherman informed that similar condition will persists and the city would receive more rains in next 48 hours. The denizens heaved a sigh of relief as the rain came with full swing. However, it also created inconvenience to citizens of many areas as their localities got waterlogged and created problem. Friday’s waterlogging in many areas of the city has exposed the tall claims of JMC. The civic body had claimed trouble-free monsoon to the citizens.
