Minister’s kin, ex-MLA’s son brutally thrash constable

In yet another assault on Police close a relative of a minister in the BJP government, son of a former MLA, along with former Chairman of Mungeli Janpad Panchayat, his brother and other accomplices brutally thrashed a Constable and torn off the uniform of an on-duty Sub Inspector. The assaulters were later arrested by Police and a case has been registered against them. The injured constable has been admitted to the hospital where his condition is reported serious.According to information received from Takhatpur Police the incident took place on late Wednesday night, when former Chairman of Mungeli Janpad Panchayat Tarun Khandekar, his brother Vicky Khandekar and ten others were arguing on some issue at a public place.

During night patrolling the Police team asked them to vacate the place and go home. During this period Tarun Khandekar had a verbal duel with Constable Rajesh Dahire after which he started telling the cop about his political influence and then thrashed him badly. He also hit the constable on his private parts after which the cop fainted. He was later rushed to the hospital where his condition is reported to be critical. Meanwhile when Sub Inspector Rakesh Sahu tried to intervene, the youths assaulted him and tore his uniform. When Sahu tried to inform the matter to Sub Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Vishwadipak Tripathi, Tarun Khandekar snatched his cell phone and complained the officer against the Policemen.

Meanwhile, taking the matter seriously Superintendent of Police Shaikh Arif Hussen instructed Takhatpur Police to take firm action against the accused. Following his instructions, Police arrested all the youths and registered an offence under section 186, 332, 353, 307 and 392 of Indian Penal Code.Commenting on the incident former MLA and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader but Police made it a big issue and registered false cases against the youths. He said that if his sons had assaulted the cops, they would have escaped from Takhatpur rather than returning back home. He said that he has taken up matter with higher authorities and demanded action against the responsible Policemen.

Senior Congress leader Shailesh Pandey in his statement said that the ruling party leaders have now started using muscle power terrorizing the innocent people in state. They have become so brutal, that they do not mind assaulting Police which is responsible to maintain law and order. He said that previously the Takhatpur MLA himself tried to assault Police in Police station and now the Food Minister’s relative and sons of former MLA and even the former Janpad Panchayat Chairman himself thrashed the on-duty Policemen. He said that with BJP losing faith among people, it was the frustration of its leaders who could sense their defeat in the ensuing assembly polls slated this year.
