Renowned author, painter Amritlal Vegad passes away

Renowned author of Hindi and Gujarati languages and noted painter Amritlal Vegad passed away on Friday. He was 90. Vegad left behind his wife, Kanta Vegad and five sons.A large number of people from all walks of life participated in funeral procession taken out from his residence to Gwarighat crematorium where last rites were performed.Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan expressed condolence on the demise of Vegad, a great artist who expressed the life-giving form of Maa Narmada (river Narmada) on canvas.


In his condolence message, he said Vegad was a invaluable asset of the society. He termed his demise a great loss to the country. The Chief Minister prayed for the peace of solace of the departed soul.Member of Parliament Vivek Krishna Tankha has also condoled the demise of Amritlal Vegad. He termed his demise a personal loss. Tankha said he had family relations with Vegad. He was a real son of Sanskardhani.


Vegad was a great writer of Hindi and Gujarati languages. He was also a noted painter. Vegad was awarded with Sahitya Academy Award for his book ‘Ek Yatra’. His demise has created a void in the filed of literature, added Tankha.He while paying tributes to Vegad prayed the Almighty to provide peace to the departed soul. Likewise, office-bearers ofvarious social, cultural and voluntary organisations, leaders of political parties have expressed profound grief over the demise of Amritlal Vegad, a great worshiper of river Narmada.
