6 accused held, pistols, sharp weapons seized

Continuing a special campaign against anti-social elements, a combined team of Crime Branch and Ranjhi police succeeded in apprehending six accused, including a delinquent child and seized 4 country-made pistols, 4 live cartridges and two sharp edged weapons from them. The accused were nabbed during a rigorous checking drive of suspected elements in different areas.

The accused have been identified as Sunil Barman (22), son of Devi Dayal, a resident of Gwarighat, Amar Thakur (25), son of Jagat Singh, resident of village Katra in Sihora, Bahadur Sarange (34), son of Motilal Sarange, resident of Gorakhpur, Abhishek Bairagi (28), son of village Dheemarkhera in Pan Umaria, Dharmendra Dhaukar (Verma) (24), son of Shyamlal Verma, a resident of near Sheetlamai Mandir in Ghamapur and Vijay Yadav (changed name)(16), resident of Ghamapur.

Superintendent of Police, Amit Singh (IPS) disclosed this while addressing a press conference, on Saturday.
SP, Amit Singh informed that all the gazetted officers and SHOs have been instructed for listing of persons involved in trade and transportation of firearms and narcotic substances to put up vigilant check on illegal activities.

During the campaign, Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime), Sandeep Mishra and Additional Superintendent of Police (North), Rajesh Tiwari and CSP, Ranjhi, Akhil Verma constituted a combined team of Crime Branch and Ranjhi police for the special campaign. In the campaign, police apprehended Sunil Barman and Amar Thakur during checking of suspected persons and seized 1 country-made pistol and 1 live cartridge from each of them.

Similarly, separate police teams conducted raids at residences of listed criminals and nabbed Abhishek Bairagi, Dharmendra Dhaurkar and 16-year-old Vijay Yadav (changed name) and seized two country-made pistols and two sharp-edged weapons from them. Ranjhi police have registered separate cases against the accused under sections 25, 27 of Arms Act, while further investigations are underway to identify and apprehend suppliers of firearms. SP, Amit Singh has declared cash rewards for members of police team led by SHO of Ranjhi police station, Ajay Rajauria. The team comprised Crime Branch’s Head Constables, Dhananjay Singh, Vijay Shukla, Mohit, Birbal, Rahul, Anand and Ranjhi’s SI, Satish Jharia, SI, Dhurve, Head Constables, Rajesh Mishra, Mukesh Patharia, Constables, Virendra, Ravindra Soni, Sharaddhar Dubey and Tarun Mishra.
