“Oldest organisation of the country Congress Seva Dal has been restructured to reinstate its strength and ensuring victory of Congress party in forthcoming Assembly Elections – 2018 and General Elections – 2019. It is the foresightedness of Congress, National President, Rahul Gandhi who gave independent status to Seva Dal to increase its reach amongst youngsters and training them to strengthen the party and serving the society,” said Krishna Kumar Pandey, National Organiser of Congress Seva Dal, while addressing a press conference, on Saturday.

K K Pandey admitted that Seva Dal was not given its due importance in Congress party since some years, but under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, Seva Dal is retaining its strength and will soon obtain desired results by winning Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh.

Replying to a query, Pandey said that the Congress Seva Dal is the oldest organisation in the country, which was established by Dr Narayan Subbarao Hardikar in the year 1923. He added that Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) was constituted on the same pattern in the year 1925.
He informed that now, Seva Dal will have no in-charge from Congress party and its senior office-bearers will be in direct contact with party high command. The organisation has been divided into six zones and around 350 office-bearers will be appointed. It will have six departments to work on the theme of Rashtra Nirman and Rashtra Seva with a separate training department.

Seva Dal will remember its senior leaders by organising social works on their birth and death anniversaries.A grand mass blood donation camp in 1,100 districts would be organised to set a world record on death anniversary of former Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi, on October 31 while birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi would be celebrated in a nationwide Swachchta Abhiyan. Week-long programmes would be organised as Rashtra Seva Yagya Saptah on birth anniversary of former PM, Rajiv Gandhi on August 20 and death anniversary of Seva Dal founder, Dr N S Hardikar, on August 26. Pandey informed that the tradition of monthly flag hoisting will be re-started with some amendments.

Seva Dal will unfurl national flag at main squares in cities on last Sunday every month to develop patriotism spirit amongst residents. In order to encourage youngsters, Seva Dal has constituted a Youth Brigade to ensure utmost participation of youngsters. Besides this, dress code for new members has been changed as white shirt, blue jeans and cap. After their training, members will be merged in Seva Dal and get traditional uniform, while members and office-bearers since minimum 10 years will soon get promotion from block to national-level bodies.
