A resident of Plot No 128, Lane No 6, Yadav Nagar, Kavita Shrichand Vishwakarma (28) and her mother Pramila (59) have been hospitalised. Cops arrested the accused, Avinash alias Guddu Ghanshyam Malviya (28), a resident of Jaripatka, soon after the incident.

Avinash had borrowed Rs four lakh from his aunt Pramila.
As he was not returning the money, Pramila had scolded Avinash. He then promised Pramila that he would return the money on July 7. At around 12.45 pm on Saturday, Avinash came and told Pramila that he would return the money in the evening. He asked Pramila to show her house as she had decided to sell it. Pramila took him on the first floor to show the house. Avinash took out a copper wire from his pocket and tried to strangle Pramila. Kavita heard her mother’s screams and climbed the stairs. She was shocked to find Pramila lying in an unconscious state and blood oozing out from her neck. Avinash then caught Kavita and also tried to strangle her with the same copper wire.

Kavita shouted for help. When Avinash tried to escape, neighbours chased and nabbed him. Pramila was rushed to Samarpan Hospital where she is battling for her life. Kavita was admitted to Mayo Hospital. Staff from Yashodhara Nagar Police arrived and took Avinash into custody.
Prima facie, police said, accused Avinash had hatched a planned to eliminate Pramila and had prepared a noose with copper wire. After Avinash was taken into custody, he started misleading the investigators.

A senior officer told ‘The Hitavada’ that the police are investigating the case from all possible angles.
Yashodhara Nagar Police registered an offence under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code against Avinash after recording Kavita’s statement.
