Staff Reporter,

After the war or words which erupted over Navi Mumbai land and incessant rains which paralysed second capital of Maharashtra, the second week of ongoing monsoon session commencing from Monday is likely to witness political storm with opposition determined to step up the pressure on BJP-Shiv Sena Government.

The old war horse Chhagan Bhujbal and NCP State Unit President Jayant Patil are likely to lead the charge against Devendra Fadnavis Government on behalf of NCP while former chief minister Prithviraj Chavan and Leader of Opposition Radhakrishna Vikhe will be at the forefront on behalf of Congress. The ruling party is likely to increase the discomfort of NCP stalwarts including former deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar and then WRD Minister Sunil Tatkare by raising the issue of irrigation scam in which now the The rain fury which affected Nagpur and even damaged the wiring room of Vidhan Bhavan is likely to be exploited to the hilt by Congress and NCP to put the BJP on the mat. Even alliance partner Shiv Sena is likely to join the chorus to repay the criticism unleashed by BJP leaders against Sena led BMC after deluge at Mumbai.

Officially, both the houses have to discuss and clear supplementary grants and during this time much firework is expected.

However, the Opposition has already made up its mind to personally target Chief Minister over Friday fiasco in which poor preparation of BJP-led Nagpur Municipal Corporation to deal with such disaster was badly exposed.

In fact, all big guns while paying lip service to inconvenience to people, took pot-shots at Fadnavis and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari while raising questionmark over this vision and on Monday, the very same tone will be maintained inside the house.

The issue is likely to snowball into a major controversy with Opposition likely to corner major municipal corporations controlled by BJP and Shiv Sena for their abysmal failure to put in place effective mechanism to deal with yearly occurrence of heavy rains. Even the smart city project and announcements of world class facilities will also be under the scanner of united opposition.
