Parliamentary Standing Committee visits AIIMS Bhopal, reviews facilities

A Parliamentary Standing Committee (PSC) on Health and Family Welfare, led by Member of Lok Sabha Dr Manoj Rajoria, visited AIIMS Bhopal on Saturday on study tour. Members inspected overall activities of the Institute and with keen interest observed various facilities available for patients in Hospital and Medical College of AIIMS Bhopal.


Members of Parliament were informed about ‘AIIMS Online Patients Registration System’ for outdoor patients, Modular Operation Theatre and procurement of state-of-art medical equipment and devices.


Members of the Committee acknowledged the progress made in various activities being performed by different departments of the Hospital by visiting DSA Lab, PMR, General Surgery Ward, Modular Operation Theatre, SMTU, Sleep Lab of Pulmonary Medicine, AYUSH, Department of Anatomy, Department of Microbiology, OPD (Central Registration Counter) etc.


Committee members also met patients admitted in the hospital. Later, the Committee members were briefed about achievements, infrastructure developments and various ongoing activities undertaken by the Institute to provide quality health care services to people at large through a presentation made by AIIMS Director Professor (Dr) Sarman Singh. Sunil Sharma, Joint Secretary, MoHFW was also present during the visit. From AIIMS Bhopal Deputy Director (Administration), Medical Superintendent, all Deans, Associate Deans, HoD, Faculty Members and all officers were present during the function.


Dr Manoj Rajoria who also chaired the meeting, addressed audience and explained the purpose of the Committee’s visit to the Institute and informed about their mandate and aspects.


The Committee members reviewed implementation of schemes/ programmes/ initiatives under National Health Mission (NHM) and also reviewed upgradation under PMSSY of Government Medical Colleges of the State with Chief Secretary and other representatives of Department of Health Services /Medical Education, Government of Madhya Pradesh.
