4 dengue deaths in a day create panic in Steel City

Steel City Bhilai remained in the grip of panic over dengue as four including three children and one youth died of it in a single day taking the toll to 9 on Thursday. The number of people down with the mosquito-borne fever crossed over 1000 as hospitals across the city continued to reel under acute pressure.

The BMC and district administration which has been accused of not effectively dealing with the situation, said it has issued orders to all private hospitals in the city to provide free treatment to dengue patients and will initiate strict action against those private hospitals refusing to provide treatment to patients in emergency situations.

13 -year-old girl Mimansha Mahi, a resident of Khurshipar, died at the JLN hospital on Thursday afternoon.
While on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday two boys and a youth died of dengue at Khrusipar and Chhaoni. It is being suspected that they have also died of dengue. The deceased are Tomendra Sen (21) son of Arjan Sen a resident of Rajiv Nagar, Ward-29 was undergoing treatment at Mekahara Raipur from Tuesday, Priyanaka (4-and- half year old) a resident of Street-12/ 2A, Zone-1, Khurshipar, was undergoing treatment at AIIMS Raipur where she died, Dinesh Dalai (7 years) son of Santosh Dalai a resident of Qr No-32/B, Khursipar was a student of class -1 and Mimansha Mahi (13 years) daughter of Anil Sakhre a journalist and resident of Street-26, Qr No-2F, Sector-11, Zone-1, Khurshipar died at JLN Hospital.

More than 1000 cases of dengue has come into light till date and are undergoing treatment at around 300 hospitals in the city. As per information deceased Dinesh Dalai was admitted three days ago at Sector-9 Hospital, where died during treatment. BMC distributing free medicines by organizing medical camps at Khursipar and Chhaoni, but has failed to eradicate dengue mosquitoes.
