Raipur is 7th most liveable city in nation

Raipur is the 7th most liveable city in the nation according to the Liveability Index List released by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. Leaving behind many metropolitan cities Raipur bagged the seventh place in the survey of ‘Ease of Living Index’. In the survey of ‘Ease of Living Index’ organised by the Central Housing and Urban Affairs Department, Government of India, Raipur city has grabbed seven places in the country after leaving many metros behind.

In a grand programme organised at the National Media Centre, the Minister of Central Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Puri announced the results of this survey in Delhi on Monday. On this occasion, the Central Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra was also with him. Municipal Commissioner Rajat Bansal has expressed his gratitude for the cooperation received from the citizens for this important achievement of Raipur city. He believes that with the spirit of ‘Mor Raipur-Mor Zimmedari’ will enable Raipur to form a worldwide identity, where everyone will work together in unity.

It is to be noted that the housing and Urban Body Department, the Indian government decided to rack up survey at the national level by including ‘Ease of Living Index’ among all the 111 cities in the country, including 100 smart cities. The level of lifetime infrastructure was set by incorporating 78 indicators grounded on the basis of institutional, social, economic and physical features. By getting seventh place in this survey, the city of Raipur has established itself as an equivalent of Pune, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Tirupati, Ludhiana, and Chandigarh City, which remained at the peak in these categories. The survey included indicators such as governance, education, health, safety, economic status and employment, availability of housing, uninterrupted power supply, urban transport, and pollution reduction.

Raipur city has established its special identity in many important indicators such as governance, safety, environmental pollution at the lowest level, uninterrupted power supply.It is known that this is the first National Survey conducted by the Central Government to know the level of lifetime facilities in the city. In such a scenario, achieving seventh place amidst the 111 cities of the country is an important achievement for the Smart city. It is believed that along with the rapid execution of various schemes currently operating, Raipur city will establish its special identity in the country really soon.

The Government of India along with the various State and Local Governments is implementing several flagship Urban Missions. An overarching goal of the various missions and schemes is to make Indian cities more ‘Liveable’.
