Thief held within 24 hrs, stolen booty recovered

CANTT police succeeded in apprehending accused of loot with a woman and recovered stolen purse, mobile handset and Rs 7,100 cash from him within 24 hours of the incident. The accused was earlier arrested in loot incidents in Lordganj, Hanumantal and Belbagh police stations. He is addicted to smack and started stealing for meet his requirements. The accused has been identified as Aman Jha (21), son of Sanjay Jha, a resident of CMS Compound.

Superintendent of Police Amit Singh (IPS) informed this while addressing a press conference. SP Singh informed that on August 16, a woman named Sonali Sachin Gautam (38), a native of Sabhaji Nagar, Baghapur, Lohara in Yavatmal (Maharashtra) filed a complaint that she reached residence of her relative Dr Seema Hingve to inaugurate her house near Sheela Talkies. She along with other relatives were returning from shopping in Sadar at around 8 pm. They were passing through Yadgar Chowk near Pahalwan Baba Mazar where an unidentified boy riding a motorcycle (MP-20MN-4944) came and snatched her handbag and drove away from the area towards Sheela Talkies. She had her mobile, Rs 11,000 cash and important documents in her handbag. Cantt police registered a case under Section 392 of the IPC and started search to identify and apprehend the accused.

Taking a serious note into the incident, SP Amit Singh constituted a team under supervision of Additional SP (City) Deepak Kumar Shukla (IPS) and CSP, Gorakhpur, Arjun Uikay and declared cash reward of Rs 5,000 for arresting or giving any information about the accused.

Investigating the case, police team found that the motorcycle is registered in the name of AshishJha, resident of CMS Compound. Continuing a rigorous search, police team raided the house and succeeded in apprehending the accused. The accused was arrested with active efforts of police team led by SHO, Cantt, Praveen Singh Dhurve and SHO, Civil Line, Ghanshyam Singh Marskole comprised of Head Constable Rajendra Daniel, Constables, Rakesh Chourasia and Ravindra Kushwaha.
