Bawankule propped up a proposal to supply coal from WCL mines to nearby MahaGenco’s units through pipe conveyor belt instead of road transport and explained its benefits

Maharashtra’s Energy, Renewable, Non Conventional Energy and State Excise Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule called on Union Coal Minister Piyush Goyal and discussed issue relating to coal linkages and supply to generating units.  During the discussion, Bawankule also briefed about future plans of MahaGenco and sought assistance in uninterrupted coal supply.

Bawankule propped up a proposal to supply coal from Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) mines to nearby MahaGenco's units through pipe conveyor belt instead of road transport and explained its benefits. He pointed out that WCL's mines Kampti, Inder, Gondegaon, Singori and Bhanegaon are located near MahaGenco's Koradi and Khaparkheda thermal power stations. The two are being inter linked and a proposal for putting in place 19 kms of piped conveyor belt would cost Rs. 440 crores. Similar plan is also in offing for Chandrapur Thermal Power Station and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari would be inaugurating the work of piped conveyor belt. He sought assistance from Goyal for speeding-up the execution of the project.

The piped supply would end question of wastage or spillage and also cut down pollution. It would save huge cost of transportation to WCL and also help in reducing pressures on road and cut down maintenance cost, Bawankule explained to Goyal.

Another important point that Power Minister took up with Union Coal Minister was about Saoner where 80 per cent of area is earmarked for future coal mines. This however has held up expansion of urban areas of Saoner and Bawankule pointed out that till date WCL has not acquired the said earmarked land due to which farmers and citizens are in bind. The State Government too is facing problem in finalising development plan for Saoner town and hence sought Goyal's help in resolving the problem.

Same problem is being faced in Adasa Mine spread over 205.46 Ha of land but mining has not yet started nor WCL entered into any agreement with land owners for land acquisition.  These issues too need to be sorted out. He also raised issue of development of Kamptee Railway Station and other related issues.

Bawankule seeks financial assistance of Rs 800 crore

Chandrashekhar Bawankule also called on Union Power Minister R K Singh and sought financial assistance of Rs 800 crore for full implementation of Prime Minister Saubhagya Scheme. He also held discussion on non-conventional power projects during the meeting was held at Shram Shakti Bhawan in New Delhi.
As Maharashtra is dotted with hills and terrain, huge cost is needed for erecting electricity infrastructure and submitted a memorandum for the same. He also discussed issue about pending arrears of land acquired for Mauda power project of NTPC.
