More than 740 college students booked for violating traffic rules

Traffic police initiated action against more than 740 college students for violating traffic rules in the city. The special drive was conducted by the traffic police of all five chambers outside schools and colleges in city on Thursday.

CP Dr B K Upadhyay had passed the orders to conduct the drive after he took a review of accident cases in the city and found that mostly youths are falling victim to the accidents. This action was taken under the guidance of DCP Traffic, Raj Tilak Raushan.

Recently, three girls riding on a scooter were killed after their vehicle was crushed by a crane at North Ambazari Road, near NIT Swimming Pool. As per the police investigation, the girls were trying to overtake the crane from left side. Sitabuldi Zone traffic police has booked 102 youths for driving without licence, helmet and driving triple seat. 75 underage students were booked for not having proper documents. Besides the students, the police has booked their parents for supporting them in violating traffic rules.

Senior Police Inspector, Jayesh Bhandarkar, Sitabuldi Traffic Zone, PSI Vinod Wagh, Anna Tayde, Dilip Gadwe,G Pande, Yogesh Bagde and other were present during the drive.  Traffic police of all five chambers will also conduct a counselling session of the parents who were booked with their children for traffic rule violations. Later, the police will also conduct a meeting with the principals of school and college in all five zones.
