Tomar to inaugurate unique IPPB project in Bhopal today

ACCOUNT holders of post office would get ‘Door Step Bank’ facility under India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) project starting from September 1. Under this facility, they will get cash on their doorsteps by just giving a missed call on 155299. Addressing a press conference, Chief Post Master General of Bhopal Circle, Alok Sharma informed that as of now, people need to go to bank and ATMs to withdraw money. However, post office has come up with a unique scheme ‘India Post Payments Bank’ which envisages providing Door Step Bank facility to account holders of post office. One has to give a missed call and postman of nearest post office will be at his doorsteps with the money. Maximum Rs 5000 will be delivered under Door Step Bank facility.


“Central Government has started Aadhaar Kendra, Passport Service Centre, Railway reservation like facility from post offices with an aim to provide more facilities to people through post office. Under this initiative, Postal Department is going to start ambitious project IPPB,” he added. He also informed that at national-level, PM Modi will inaugurate this project in New Delhi. In Bhopal, Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar will inaugurate the project and programme will be presided over by MP Rakesh Singh. This programme will be organised at Mansarovar Auditorium of Madhya Pradesh Assembly. Union Minister M J Akbar will inaugurate this project in Vidisha, Finance Minister Jayant Malaiya in Jabalpur, Minister Narottam Mishra in Datia, Minister Gaurishankar Shejwar in Raisen, MP Assembly Speaker Dr Sitasharan Sharma in Hoshangabad etc. Under the project, 42 branches of post offices situated in various districts and 168 access points situated in various post offices will start working from September 1. By December 31, all 8,066 post offices of Madhya Pradesh will provide India Post Payments Bank service.
