Congress calls for ‘Bharat Bandh’ today

In a bid to protest against the rising fuel prices, the opposition Congress has called for a Bharat Bandh on Monday. Addressing a press conference at Rajiv Bhawan here on Sunday, All India Congress Committee (AICC) Spokesman and State Congress In-charge P L Punia claimed that several political parties, trade and transport unions including Chhattisgarh Chamber Of Commerce and Industries supported the Congress called Bharat Bandh. The school and colleges will remain closed in the state. The Bharat Bandh will be observed from 9 am to 3 pm, he added.

Replying to a query, Punia said that the Congress demanded the Central government to bring petroleum products under the ambit of the GST to give relief to common people. Inflation is increasing day by day due to rising fuel prices. People from all classes, particularly farmers are facing a lot trouble due to this, he added.

State Congress President Bhupesh Baghel, former Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader Ravindra Choubey, CLP deputy leader Kawasi Lakhma, CPCC In-charge General Secretary Girish Dewangan, Shailesh Nitin Trivedi, Ramesh Warlyani, Gyanesh Sharma, Sushil Anand Shukla, Ghanshyam Raju Tiwari, Dhananjay Singh Thakur and other leaders were present at the press conference.
