Inter-state women thieves’ gang busted

Of the 11 members of the gang who were arrested, 10 are women. They ‘specialised’ in house breaks across MP, UP and Chhattisgarh

Singrauli police arrested 11 members of an inter-state gang of robbers involved in house breaks. Cops seized gold and silver ornaments worth around Rs 10 lakh and cash Rs 14,000 from the possession of the accused. The group of robbers is dominated by women thives who used to target passengers in running busses during day time and were instrumental in house breaks in colonies with their husbands. The inter-state group of thieves comprised of 10 women and one male.


The success for the police is the outcome of information from an informer about suspicious persons traveling in a bus who had robbed one woman passenger in bus bound for Singrauli from Sidhi.


It is informed that recently Vindaynagar region was being targeted by group of unidentified accused on which SP Singrauli Riyaz Iqbal had issued directives to apprehend the gang behind the house breaks. An informer told Bargawa police about one woman passenger being targeted in the bus. Taking gravity of the information, cops followed the bus and stopped it and forced the passengers to get down for search.


Cops were surprised to find a group of women on the bus. They were brought to police station and were interrogated. The accused revealed that they used to target passengers during day time and were actively involved in house breaks after dusk. They also confessed that they used to replace original ornaments with imitation ones at homes where they visited as experts in polishing of gold and silver ornaments. Their active place of operation was Uttar Pradesh, Chattisgarh state and areas adjoining Madhya Pradesh.


The accused have been identified as Shikha Devi Nepal Malhar, Anjali Devi Santosh Malhar, Shanti Rajkumar, Gauri Mehilal, Reshma Dulari Malahar, Anjalai Vishnu Malhar, Biliya Mukesh Sumiran Raju, Malti Suresh Malhar and Santosh Rameshwar Lal. The miscreants had settled near Bargawa Railway station by constructing a temporary shed. Cops reached the spot and seized gold and silver ornaments worth around Rs 10 lakh and cash Rs 14000. The gold ornaments weigh 280 grams while the silver jewellery i 1.5 kilogram.


The police team comprised of Additional SP Pradeep Shindey, SDOP K S Dwivedi, CSP Anil Sonkar, SHO Bargawa, SHO Waidhan, SHO Vindyanagar, SHO Morwa along with ASI Sahab Lal Singh, R S Singh, B P Kaul, Umesh Agnihotri, Veerendra Tripathi, Ramesh Mishra, Jagdish Prajapati, Vijay Patel and Vivek SIngh who offered valuable support in busting the inter-state gang.
