SMS II of BSP sets record in production of Blooms, Rails

Financial year 2018-19 has, so far, been a year of achievement in record Bloom Production from SMS-2 and record production and dispatches of rails from Rail & Structural Mill & Universal Rail Mill for the period April to August 2018. The Plant has also recorded best first quarter production & dispatches of finished production of boiler quality plates.


The Plant exceeded its Annual Business Plant (ABP) targets for April to Aug period in Ingot Rolling (108.8 % fulfillment); Billets (106.3% fulfillment). In Semis production, the Plant exceeded ABP targets for the period in BBM Blooms (120.4% fulfillment) and CCS production (202.2% fulfillment). SMS-2 supplies concast blooms to both RSM and URM for fulfilling the Rail demand by Indian Railways. After recording best-ever MAY production of 103150 Tons, best ever June production of 109735 Tons; best ever daily production of 46 heats in a day recorded on 19th June 18, and best ever Q 1 production of 304596 Tonnes as against previous best of 273730 Tons recorded in corresponding Q1 period of last fiscal year, SMS 2 recorded its best April to August performances since its inception with production of 5,29,400 T of Concast Blooms
surpassing previous best of 4,79,900 T recorded in corresponding period of 2017-18. This included best ever July production of 120000 Tons of Blooms since inception. Record production of concast blooms from SMS 2 has aided the Universal Rail Mill to record a cumulative production of 1,44,799 T in April to Aug period, as against the production of 69,600 T recorded in corresponding period of last year (CPLY).


BEST EVER RAILS PRODUCTION: In the area of rails production, the production of 3,69,036 T of UTS 90 rails during April to Aug period has surpassed previous best of 3,49,300 T recorded in corresponding period of 2017-18. Coke rate of 440 Kg/THM recorded at Blast Furnace 7 during the April to Aug period has been the best ever surpassing the previous best of 464.7 Kg/THM recorded in corresponding period of 2009-10. Coal Dust Injection (CDI) rate of 83.6 Kg/THM recorded at Blast Furnace 7 during the period has been the best ever surpassing the previous best of 68.2 Kg/THM recorded in corresponding period of 2009-10.


PLATE MILL’S BEST DAY RECORD IN NORMALISED PLATES PRODUCTION: Plate Mill has recorded its best ever day production of 1396 T of normalised plates on 8th Sept 18, surpassing previous best of 1367 T on 31st July 2010.
