Widow allegedly hit, abused by Yewraghat Sarpanch

A widow was allegedly beaten with slippers and casteist abuses were hurled at her by hte Sarpanch at Yewraghat village panchayat under Khairlanji Janpad. As per reports, Sangita Bai (35), wife of late Duryodhan Raut, resident of Garrabodi, met Sarpanch Dinesh (40), son of Pratap Lilhare, at his home to get some official work done. Somehow, he got annoyed with the woman and beat her with slippers and then hurled casteist abuses at her.

The victim reached Rampayli police station but she was asked to go and only her application was taken. The woman then lodged complain at Chief Minister Online. On September 6, she was called by police officers at Rampayli police station and case under Section 294, 323, 506 and SC/ST Act Section 3(2)5 A was lodged against the accused Sarpanch. But the accused is still moving about freely even after the case was registered. Police have not arrested him. Case diary for investigation was sent to SDOP Ramnarayan Parteti and then he returned the diary to Rampayli police station. Now case diary has been sent to Khairlanji SHO Nirmal Shreewas.

The victim, Sangita Raut informed that on September 5, she met Sarpanch Dinesh Lilhare and informed him that her ration card is in her late husband’s name and hence she was not getting ration. She requested him to include her name in the ration card. The Sarpanch replied that it was not his work and asked her to meet some employee at the Panchayat office.

The victim informed that she had to cover a distance of two kilometres by foot to reach Panchayat office and hence requested the Sarpanch to add her name to the ration card so that she could start getting ration. But the Sarpanch got annoyed and started misbehaving with her. She also suffered injuries in the leg due to the beating. The victim got the complain registered at Rampayli police station on September 6 and then case against accused was registered. But still the Sarpanch has not been called for questioning and the case diary is being sent back and forth. SDOP Ramnarayan Parteti informed that case diary has been sent to Rampayli and the SHO would investigate into the matter.
