Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Inter State Bus Terminus (ISBT) is an ambitious project of providing better transport facilities to residents has failed to serve the purpose following its mismanaged operation.

Sheer negligence from competent authorities failed the systematic operation of buses and providing better convenience to residents.

ISBT, Chief Executive Officer, Sachin Viskwakarma, while talking to ‘The Hitavada’, informed that around 450 buses are being regularly operated through the terminus and efforts are being made to provide better facilities to passengers and management of buses operation. He admitted that most of the buses are being operated outside the terminus. ISBT authority has no authority to regulate buses from the terminus but it is the responsibility of enforcement agencies like Road Transport Department and Traffic police to ensure operation of buses from specified place. The matter will be tabled in District Road Safety Committee to ensure managed operation of buses from ISBT and providing best facilities to passengers.

He also informed that separate pick-up and drop points are available for auto-rickshaw owners at terminus premises but following the operation of busses out of the terminus leads to parking of auto-rickshaws on the road.

More than 450 buses are being operated through ISBT Jabalpur but most of the buses overlooked to enter the premises and picking up passengers from out of the terminus.
The terminus was established with an aim to provide well managed transportation facilities for any route under a roof. Authorities had claimed that operation of busses from ISBT will shift heavy traffic load inside the city.

Contrary to the claims, most of the buses are being operated through middle of the city and openly picking up passengers from different squares and bus stops in the city.
