Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD), Northern Coalfields Limited, P K Sinha and CMD BEML, Deepak Kumar Hota jointly flagged off the nation’s first indigenously developed electric dump truck on Monday at inaugural ceremony held in Mysore.

Director (Technical /Operations) NCL, Gunadhar Pandey also graced the flagging-off ceremony. On this occasion General Manager (Excavation) NCL, S C Vats was also present.
Keeping in with the ‘Make in India’ initiative of the Government of India, NCL will deploy the home-grown dump truck for its mining operations.

In a first, BEML has developed 205 Tonne electric dump truck (Model BH205-E) indigenously. The dump truck, which had been flagged off for its use in NCL, has numerous safety and eco-friendly features. The dump truck is designed and developed using electric drive systems which significantly lowers oil consumption over its life cycle thereby reducing the overall environmental impact. Other salient features of the dump truck include emphasis on operator’s comfort, ergonomically designed dash board, emergency steering and braking and proximity warning contributing towards safety.
