Officials to keep vigil on PoP Ganesha idols during review meet

Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) will be clamping down on the plaster of Paris (PoP)-made idols of Lord Ganesha so as people could be encouraged to buy Clay (Mitti ke Ganesh) Ganesha.

RMC Commissioner Rajat Bansal alerted his subordinates to keep vigil on PoP Ganesha idols in a reviewer meeting on Tuesday. He also directed them for making special arrangements for Swacch Bharat survey-2019 by raising awareness with the assistance of public representatives, social service organization, students of schools and colleges as well as common citizens.

RMC Commissioner also analysed the cases of unauthorised structures, saying such cases of regularization should be decided on promptly and forward to Town & Country Planning Department.

While reviewing the preparation of the elections, RMC Commissioner stressed on time-bound working system to execute the election works while still taking care of the public facilities.

He admired the enthusiasm of citizens for making and installing clay Ganesha idols, directing the officials to make sure no PoP idol gets into the market under any circumstance. Dumping or burning of Puja materials at the immersion site is strictly prohibited so special arrangements shall be made to dispose them off. Just like every year, impermanent immersion pools will be available at every pond while the big idols can be deposited to the RMC teams deployed at Budhatalab, Telibandha and Lakhenagar etc, which will be then sent to the river Kharun immersion spot.
Bansal also informed about Swacchta Sangram Campaign, under which short-film festival, music, essay and many such programmes will be held to connect with the youths and children.

Assigning responsibilities to Zone Commissioners, EEs, Health Officers, he elaborate directions regarding ODF, and Door-to-Door Waste Collection.
