Encroachments from Sharda Chowk, Madan Mahal Fort route removed

Administrated has listed 45 encroachments. Of the total, as many as 36 permanent structures have so far been razed by the anti-encroachment squad

In compliance of the High Court's order, district administration along with Jabalpur Municipal Corporation and Police is carrying out drive to remove as many as 45 encroachments situated on Sharda Chowk-Madan Mahal Fort route.


Deputy Commissioner, Rakesh Ayachi informed that following the directions of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, the anti-encroachment squad of JMC under the guidance of Collector, Chhavi Bhardwaj and Municipal Commissioner, Chandramauli Shukla is razing the encroachments situated on aforementioned route.


He said the civic body is proposed to widen the road to 40 feet apart from to conserve historic heritage situated in the area. For the same, the district administration along with JMC is removing the illegal structures situated on the road from Sharda Chowk to Madan Mahal fort. He said the administrated has listed 45 encroachments. Of the total, as many as 36 permanent structures have so far been razed by the anti-encroachment squad.


Ayachi informed that remain 9 structures have been removed by concerned owners. They have been given time to vacate the houses and raze the same. The Deputy Commissioner informed that after razing encroachments, the district administration and civic body is protecting the area through fence.


A number of senior officials of district administration, JMC and Police department were present during the drive.
