Wanted criminal arrested with firearms

A COMBINED team of Crime Branch and Ghamapur police succeeded in apprehending a wanted criminal carrying cash reward of Rs 5,000 and seized a country-made revolver from him. Police also apprehended two other accused involved in trade of firearms and seized a country-made revolver and a pistol along with three live cartridges from them. Arrested accused have been identified as Raju Patel (35) son of Kishan Lal, a resident of Ramnagar behind Durga Mandir, Aniket Barman (21), son of Raju Barman, resident of Indira Nagar near Ravidas Mandir in VJF Estate and Vicky Mallaj (24), son of Raju alias Rajendra Mallah, resident of near Khermai Mandir, Nai Basti Jhanda Chowk.

Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Rajesh Tripathi disclosed this while addressing a press conference on Saturday. ASP Tripathi informed that under direction of Superintendent of Police Amit Singh police started a special campaign against anti-social elements under supervision of Additional SP (North) Rajesh Tiwari, Additional SP (Crime), Shivesh Singh Baghel and CSP, Ranjhi, Akhil Verma.

Continuing the campaign, police received information about a wanted criminal named Raju Patel who was absconding in a loot case sighted on Testing Road in Shobhapur.
Acting promptly on the information, police team led by SHO of Ghamapur police station Sanjay Singh reached the spot. Witnessing the police team, accused tried to escape from the spot but alert cops managed to catch the accused. In his search, police recovered a 315-bore country-made revolver and a live cartridge. The accused was absconding in a case of loot and police had declared cash reward of Rs 5,000 for arresting or giving information about the accused.

Similarly, police received information about a suspected man standing near a tree at Mangal Parag Ground.
Receiving the information, police team reached the spot and succeeded in apprehending the accused and recovered a country-made revolver and a live cartridge from him. Acting on another tip-off, police team nabbed Vicky Mallah at Siddhababa ground and recovered a country-made pistol loaded with a live cartridge. Ghamapur police have registered separate cases under Section 25, 27 of the Arms Act, while further investigations are on.
